How to pray strategically?

Prayer is the most important thing that you need to do each day. If you wait for the perfect circumstances and feelings to pray, you may have to wait forever.

We must be intentional about prayer and meditating on God's Word. If you take the steps to draw close to God, feelings generally follow and your appetite for prayer increases.

Fix your appointment - Both quality and quantity matter:

Early morning is the best time to spend with God. A new morning is a reminder of God's new mercies.

Start with Confession of Sins:

To start your conversation with God, you can start with the confession of sins. Sins form a barrier between you and God. For blood-bought children of God, sin does not break the positional relationship with God, but it affects the fellowship with God.

We all sin every single day, both knowingly and unknowingly. Re-collect all your sins, repent and ask God to forgive both known and unknown sins.

Psalm 19:

12Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

13Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

14Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Give thanks

Count your blessings, name them and thank God for them. We fail to see the goodness of God in our lives every day while expanding our request list.

Offer Praise

Paul and Silas thanked and praised God in Roman prison. David poured out his heart, disappointment and hard emotions in the Psalms and intentionally ended most of the Psalms praising God, despite his terrible circumstances. Offer the sacrifices of praise to God, because He deserves it.

Place your requests

God answers prayers. We have to place our requests to God and let Him decide what is best for us. Surrendering to God's will is the best decision we can make every single day.
