Delayed Obedience is Dis-Obedience

When God gives us an assignment we aren't comfortable with, we try to find excuses or reasons to do it later. We presume that this is not disobedience because we are not saying "no" but "later". The most common reason to procrastinate is "not feeling like doing it". The Word of God clearly says we should not always rely on our feelings but act based on the Truth.

A person who often makes choices based on feelings is the one who is most likely to give in to sin, as the devil can use feelings powerfully as a weapon to deceive.

Self-Control is a fruit of the Spirit that would help you do what you have to do when you have to, even if you don't feel like doing it.

Trust me, most of the time, you won't 'feel' like working on any good thing God has placed in your heart, especially when you are yet to start. But, when you go ahead and start doing it for God and continue to progress with the help of God's strength, you will probably start feeling good about doing it. You should first choose to take action in obedience to God, and then your feelings usually co-operate with you.

What does God want you to do today? JUST DO IT, period.

Bible Verses on acting in obedience Immediately:

And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

Mark 4:29

But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest has come.

Matthew 4:22

And they immediately left the ship and their father and followed him.

Luke 18:43

And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw [it], gave praise unto God.

Luke 13:13

And he laid [his] hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

Mark 4:15

And these are they by the wayside, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
